DIRECT LINE WITH COMPANIES

Inga Izbas and Nicola Santolamazza
Sole Director and Co-founder of NSI S.r.l.

We met Inga Izbas and Nicola Santolamazza, who direct and coordinate the activities of NSI,
a young and dynamic company that has been a reliable partner of many implantology professionals for ten years.

NSI, i.e. Natural System Implant:
Nicola, what is your philosophy?

Our production has evolved from the teachings of the great Italian school of immediate loading, inspired by the concepts of bicorticalism, to develop products with a patented design and maximum simplification of both instrumentation and surgical steps.
And I wish to point out: all made in Italy.

The company’s philosophy can be summed up in simplicity, safety and minimal invasiveness, thanks to both the scientific rationale and the support service, especially in the early stages of using the system.

We have simplified the surgical kit as much as possible, creating a compact box: at least 6 can fit in an autoclave, in order to have everything necessary for a day’s work. It contains 4 insertion drills, for the 3 diameters of the Maxifix Compressive One Stage implants and for the 3 diameters of the Light Two-Stage implants.
For the BASAL one-stage self-tapping implant line, just 2 pilot drills are enough to engage the cortex and prepare the core tunnel: cylindrical and nozzle-shaped, both in the 29 mm long and 15 mm short versions.

Our products are also supplied in the all-inclusive full pack version, including all prosthetic components to finalise the elements. Thanks to the special mounter, whose patent is owned by us, the surgeon has the analogous transfer structure and healing screw in a single package for the Light Two-Stage implant.

While for the one-stage implants line, the disposable kit is made of sterile plastic material and allows the dental impression to be taken immediately and then, thanks to the analogue and the preformed cap, continue development in the laboratory. It is also possible to directly apply the preformed cap and use it as a base for an immediate provisional implant.

The insertion of the implant is very simple and requires only one extremely sharp drill, which ensures a minimally invasive procedure, thus allowing the self-tapping implant to obtain excellent progressive and atraumatic primary stability, with the possibility of impacting or threading even the cortex without particular difficulties.

The insertion instruments are the same for the various types, 2 dedicated short and long mounters and the dynamometric ratchet with the addition of the large manual screwdriver, very useful for manual directional control and insertion torque until the fixture is locked in place.

At this point, and this is another one of the special features of our systems, the implant can be bent into the transmucosal region to obtain an ideal prosthetic discharge of the chewing forces. This also allows the inclination problem to be solved, thus obtaining parallelism. This is possible because we use treated and certified titanium, which guarantees a certain resistance while allowing it to be bent.

What validations have you achieved?

To obtain FDA approval, we subjected our plants to mechanical and physical tests at the Polytechnic University of Milan.

The result was very interesting, confirming the value of the long clinical case his tory in our possession, but above all the validity of the patents and the scientific rationale behind them.

NSI has been attentive to traceability for some time: Inga, which system do you use?

To defend ourselves against counterfeiting, we added the UDI serial number and the QR code on the label, which refers to our website, where the operator can enter the data and immediately download the implant passport.

The UDI, Unique Device Identification Number, is a unique method that allows us to know the geolocation of the implants through the patients who register with their initials and the date of the operation. This way the patient can verify traceability and we can check the pairing code.

The goal is to raise awareness in the public and make it clear that the systems are not all the same!

Finally, we are pleased to point out that there is a woman at the helm of the company…

Nicola and I have been working together for some time, but the increase in work sees him increasingly engaged in the production and organisation part thanks to his twenty years of expertise alongside surgeons and dentists.
For this reason I had to put all my experience in business management into practice and take on the role of sole administrator of NSI.
